The camera and director showed their significance again very well in the climax scene. The supporting casts were superb especially, Appu played by Tovino Thomas and Sethu played by Bala. The film had enough comedies without making the audience bore and had a twist and a sentimental climax. Talking about the lead actress i.e Kanchanamala played by Parvathi Menon, was superb and had a stunning boldness and sensitive mind which made her a perfect heroine. His genuine way of acting will surely make him an award winner this year. Prithviraj, experiencing an increase in his prestige through the film, made all the teenagers and college students, their own 'Prithvi'. Gopi Sunder again made his eminence in background scores through the film with some amazing piece of 'ringtone-to-be' scores. He had done an amazing work to the film which made it, a blockbuster. John, had an epic comeback to films after a short period of time. This itself shows his sincerity to the film. It is said that the director took almost 7 years to complete the film. I can't believe that the film was directed by a debut director. What a magnificent story with great direction and cinematography.
The film ends with the narrator saying that Kanchanamala survived her lover and lives all these years at Moideen's house as the unmarried widow of Moideen. She takes Kanchanamala to Moideen's house. Kanchanamala attempts to commit suicide, but Moideen's mother holds her back. When he was returning with the passport, Moideen drowns in a boat mishap in the river Iruvazhinjippuzha in July 1982.

The lovers then finally decide to go to America, for which Moideen arranges passport for Kanchanamala and himself. Eventually Kanchanmala was caught and beaten mercilessly by her conservative relatives. Both communicated through letters and language they had developed. Moideen shifted ground to being a socio-political activist and Kanchanamala lived in her house under strict restrictions for 22 years. Since inter-religious marriages were a taboo then, the couple had to part ways as their families objected to their love affair. Set in the 1960s and 70s in Mukkam, Kerala, the film tells the tragic love story of Moideen who belongs to a renowned Muslim family and Kanchana Mala who is the daughter of a Hindu Thiyya aristocratic landlord.
